Military Monday & NMAM: Lucius Deyoe

Lucius Deyoe enlisted in the Union Army a Private on 21 October 1861 at the age of 17. He
enlisted in Company H, 61st Infantry Regiment New York on 26 Oct 1861.The young private was wounded in the Wilderness Campaign on 5 May 1864. He was mustered out later that year on 24 October 1864 near Petersburg, VA.
Lucius was single, being only 19 when he mustered out. His mother - Mary Deyoe - lived in Binghamton, NY. He had been born 6 December 1845 in Greene, Chenango County, NY. Before enlisting, he was a laborer.
His death date is still unclear although it was after 1880, since that was the year he filed for his pension.
