On This Day: Cows dying throughout Lancaster County

It was On This Day in 1880 that the Lancaster Daily Intelligencer reported that healthy cows were suddenly diseased and dying.

In Providence Township, several of John Mowry’s cows have died. The cows, according to the paper, were “perfectly healthy up to the moment of being attacked by the disease.”

William Morton, of Lancaster City, and B. J. McGrann, near the City, also had cows suddenly die.

On This Day is a prompt I started this month to further explore historical events.
