An Alabama man has been lynched, reported the Shenandoah Evening Herald On This Day in 1892. George Adams assaulted two white women near Rivington , Alabama . A posse caught him. On the way back to the jail, the officers were overtaken and Adams was lynched. He – Admas that is – had gone to a farmhouse where the two women were home alone. He demanded money. They refused and he beat them “into insensibility.” Source: T he evening herald. ( Shenandoah , Pa. ), 04 March 1892. Chronicling America : Historic American Newspapers .
