Sunday's Obituary: Linda Kauffman Eckman

Linda Kauffman Eckman of Virginia Beach, VA, one of God's fairest, passed away on April 11, 2013. She passed peacefully to her next life with her husband by her side. Linda was born June 27, 1947 to the late Ira Herr Kauffman and Mildred M. Kauffman. She graduated from Hempfield High School and was a history major at Millersville University. She loved history and was a Civil War enthusiast. Linda loved music and began playing piano early in life. She had many hobbies and loved to travel. She met her husband, Dick, when they worked at Hamilton Watch Co. It was love at first sight and they were married for forty-four years. Linda also worked as a credit manager at Georgia-Pacific Corp. and was a buyer for nine Hallmark Gold Crown stores. Linda and Dick moved to Virginia Beach in 2006 to be with their daughter and family. She was devoted to her daughter, Kerry and her grandkids, who were the loves of her life. Most of all, Linda was a people person. She loved people and made friends easily. Linda volunteered for organizations in Lancaster County and for City Hall in Virginia Beach. If she could be around people, she was happy. Linda loved her dogs and all animals. She was a kind and caring person and will be missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband and love of her life, Richard "Dick" Eckman; her daughter, Kerry Clodfelter; two grandsons, Isaiah and Evan; a granddaughter, Cecelia and her fiancé, Aubry Phillips IV, all of Virginia Beach; her brother, David Kauffman and his wife, Jeannie Van Epps and family of Scottsdale, AZ; two stepbrothers, Donald Frey, his wife, Mary and family of Lancaster, and Jack Frey, his wife, Bunky and family of Millersville; a brother-in-law, William Eckman, his wife, Cheryl and family of Lancaster; sisters-in-law, Martha Hrbac, her husband, Carl and family of Lititz, and Arla Eckman and family of Conestoga; many cousins and Sean Clodfelter. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her mother- and father-in-law, Richard and Loretta Eckman; stepmother, Elsie Frey Kauffman; brother-in-law, Paul Eckman; and many aunts and uncles.

A Life Celebration will be held in the near future for family and friends in Lancaster, with another being held in Virginia. God bless her. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in her memory.
