Follow Friday this week includes good finds

Congratulations to Edward Grandi! He was recently appointed as the Executive Director for the National Genealogical Society (NGS).

Blog posts worth reading:

  • Cindy Freed, of Genealogy Circle, wrote a great little piece this week titled “Ten Things To Do for your Civil War Ancestor.” If your family was in the States by the time of the Civil War, chances are you have family who either fought or were generally affected by the War. Her 10 teips are a great start to find your ancestor!
  • I personally do not have any Oregon family (that I know of) but if YOU do then you want to check out Tony Pettinato’s article titled “Oregon Archives: 61 Newspapers for Genealogy Research.” The article was posted on GenealogyBank.com.
  • Considering writing your family history? Did you attend a recent conference and want to share some of your findings? Then the copyright issue is something you need to be aware of and Judy G. Russell does a great job explaining it on The Legal Genealogist.
