On This Day: Oxford Dictionary is published

The first portion of the Oxford English Dictionary was published On This Day in 1884. What is neat about the Oxford Dictionary is that it does not just offer the definition but also the history of the word. With over 600,000 words, it is generally regarded as an authority on the English language.

On This Day is a prompt I started this month to further explore historical events.
