Steven is my fourth cousin once removed. He is descended
from my fourth great uncle and Civil War Veteran Benjamin Franklin Vanhorn.
Shayna is my third cousin once removed. She is descended from Hugh O’Flaherty,
my second great uncle. John is my second cousin once removed. He is descended
from my Uncle Reds (Raymond Welsh), my great uncle.
Memory Eternal
Today is the 71st anniversary of the passing of Darius
James Eckman. I’ve written about him recently in a Tombstone Tuesday prompt. He is my husband’s
second great uncle.
Tuesday is the 105th anniversary of the passing
of Albert Eckman. Albert is the half second great uncle of my husband. His
mother is the son of my husband’s second great grandmother (Elizabeth Winter)
by her first husband (Samuel Eckman).
Friday is the 35th anniversary of John C Eckman,
hubby’s “Uncle Bud”. It is also the 82nd anniversary of the passing
of Oscar Dale Eckman. Oscar was Dad and Uncle Bud’s uncle. He was my husband’s
second great uncle and brother to Darius mentioned above. Oscar never married.
He lived in the same house his entire life and served in the Mec USA Amb Corps
Unit 583 during World War I.
Mary Elizabeth Eckman Eicholtz also passed on Friday – 76
years ago. She was my husband’s second great aunt. Her parents were my
husband’s second great grandparents, John Henry Eckman and Elizabeth
Longnecker. I know little of Mary, except that she had married Benjamin
Eicholtz.
On Saturday we recall Mary’s brother, Jefferson F Eckman. He
passed 103 years ago, in 1912.
