Mary Wise was one
of several drunks to appear before the mayor On This Day in 1882 in Lancaster City . Wise was arrested by an Officer
Holman. Since this was evidently not her first time in this situation, the
Lancaster Daily Intelligencer reported that she was “sent out to the mansion.”
The superintendent of the “mansion” was a Mr. Burkholder at that time.
