On This Day: Drunks appear before mayor

Mary Wise was one of several drunks to appear before the mayor On This Day in 1882 in Lancaster City. Wise was arrested by an Officer Holman. Since this was evidently not her first time in this situation, the Lancaster Daily Intelligencer reported that she was “sent out to the mansion.” The superintendent of the “mansion” was a Mr. Burkholder at that time.

On This Day is a prompt I started to further explore historical events.
