On This Day: Men flock to Safe Harbor for work

Workmen and their families are flocking to Safe Harbor since the iron works were put into full operation On This Day in 1880. The Lancaster Daily Intelligencer reported that 10 – 12 railroad car loads of pig iron have arrived daily this past week. A new siding from the rail line to the works is now finished. Housing has become scarce near the iron works.

On This Day is a prompt I started this month to further explore historical events.
