On This Day: Schegel fatally struck by train

Harry Schegel was fatally struck by the fast line near Leaman Place. Schegel fell from the train cars. Deputy Coroner Eaby returned the inquest results to the commissioners’ office On This Day in 1881. The employees of the Pennsylvania Rail Road were not to blame.

Schegel’s death occurred Thursday, 31 March. The following day another man, an unknown man yet, was also killed near Leaman Place after being struck by a train. Again, the employees of the Pennsylvania Rail Road were not to blame for the death.
