Harry Schegel was
fatally struck by the fast line near Leaman
Place . Schegel fell from the train cars. Deputy
Coroner Eaby returned the inquest results to the commissioners’ office On This
Day in 1881. The employees of the Pennsylvania
Rail Road were not to blame.

Schegel’s death
occurred Thursday, 31 March. The following day another man, an unknown man yet,
was also killed near Leaman Place
after being struck by a train. Again, the employees of the Pennsylvania Rail Road were not to blame
for the death.
