On This Day: Ice remains on the Susquehanna

Ice remains on the Susquehanna River On This Day in 1881. There remained a bank of ice on the Lancaster side of the Susquehanna River near McCall’s Ferry. The ice is reported to be about 100 feet long and 20 feet wide and five feet think.

A personal note:
I thought after the harsh winter we had this year (2015), this item may be of interest to some locally!

On This Day is a prompt I started this month to further explore historical events.
