On This Day: Lititz receives telephone exchange

Lititz was connected On This Day in 1883 with a telephone exchange.

Just seven years earlier, in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell received the first patent for the telephone in the United States. He was not, however, the first to actually invent it. That honor goes to Antonio Meucci, an Italian inventor, who invented a basic phone in 1849.

Lititz is a borough in the northern section of Lancaster County.

On This Day is a prompt I started this month to further explore historical events.
