On This Day: Bridge to connect Lancaster & Chester Counties


Bids for an inter county bridge connecting Lancaster and Chester Counties were opened On This Day in 1880. Brinton Carter, of Lancaster, will be awarded the bid. His bid was $1,662. Two men from Chester County did come in lower but they only bid for the wood work. Carter’s bid included the wood work and the actual construction.
