On This Day: Teen sent to House of Refuge

Martin Bollinger complained that his son, Hiram, was incorrigible and beyond his control. The Daily Intelligencer reported On This Day in 1882 that the judges agreed with him and on Saturday sentenced 16 year old Hiram Bollinger to the House of Refuge. The Bollingers lived in West Earl Township, Lancaster County.
