On This Day: Eden man smothered to death


An Eden township man died On This Day in 1880 after being smothered in a lime kiln. George Swisher, age 18, was the son of Patrick Swisher. The Swishers were working on the farm of Israel Montgomery when the young man fell into a lime kiln and was smothered.
