The Pequea Baptist Church in Cains, Salisbury Township, Lancaster County was built in 1844. It is the first Baptist Church in the Township. By the end of October 1843, over 100 people had come to follow Brother Ketchum and desired a place of their own. A meeting was held on 2 November 1843, according to the parish website , at which it was decided to erect a meetinghouse. Land was purchased from Mr. Christian Oberholser for $125 at that time and a building was erected. The building was a modest 43 X 55 ft and it had a basement and upper room. It was dedicated on 12 December 1844.
