The 1877 City Directory shows Leven's mother as a widow residing at 102 South Queen Street. Leven lived with her. His place of employment was listed as Rote & Sons, Undertakers. The business was also at 102 South Queen Street. His brother James lives there as well and lists his occupation as coffin maker. The 1880 Census reveals him living on South Queen Street in Lancaster with his mom Anna, his wife Anna, their 13 year old daughter Annie and Albert Foltz, a boarder. Leven was an undertaker.
