Nimrod Strickland was born in 1807 in Pennsylvania . He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows. He married Margaret McCullough in 1837. They had several children: Nimrod, Rosie G., Robert E. M., and Nimrod. The 1870 Census did actually list 26 year old Nimrod and one year old Nimrod both as “Nimrod Jr.” The family also employed two domestic servants that year: Mary McCann and Anna Miles. Phebe Lumis was listed as their domestic in the 1860 census. He died of heart disease. He is buried at the Oaklands Cemetery in West Chester, Chester County . His obituary reads: Judge Nimrod Strickland died at his home in West Chester , on Saturday, aged 73 years. Under the administration of Governor Wolfe, he was register of Chester County , holding the position for six years.
