Jonas Zindle was murdered in a Lock Haven (Clinton County ) street, reported the Lancaster Daily Intelligencer On This Day in 1881. Zindle was the owner of the Farmers’ hotel in town there. Samuel Blair was quite intoxicated and was quarreling in the barroom. Zindle walked him outside. Immediately there was a loud noise, a thud on the street. Zindle’s wife ran out to see Blair on his hands and knees and her husband dead on the ground. His face was badly bruised on the right side. The incident occurred Saturday, 8 October. Blair was arrested shortly after. Zindle, born 19 February 1818 in Germany , was buried at the Highland Cemetery in Lock Haven.
