John Slawko was born 4 January 1918 and is the oldest son of Ignatz (also spelled Hnat) and Pauline Slawko. John's siblings are: Leon, Anne, Leroy, and Sophie. The family lived on High Street in Coatesville. He worked at the mill.
John served in the Army during World War II from 19 November 1941 to 30 March 1944. He was a Sgt. with the 4th Det. NAW ATO. His enlistment papers show he enlisted in New Cumberland in the Air Corps. At the time of his enlistment, he listed his occupation as an "unskilled molder". He was single, with no dependents.
He passed away 22 October 1976.
