Richard A. "Dick" Manley, Sr., age 75, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at home surrounded by family.
Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Donnan Manley. He was the husband of Joyce M. Kirchner Manley. They celebrated their 55th anniversary January 31, 2008. He worked for 45 years until his retirement as a Lineman for PP&L. Dick was a U S Army veteran.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Columbia. He was a life member of VFW Post 757, Mountville; the Owls Club of Columbia; the Seagraves of Wrightsville; Columbia Fish & Game Association; Ickesburg Sportsmen's Club. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Chickies Rock Lodge 307; the American Legion, Newport, PA; and the former Shawnee Fire Company. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Perry County and hunting and fishing. He loved to spend time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Brenda L. wife of Steven L. Zeamer of Mountville; Richard A. "Rick" Jr. husband of Lisa A. Manley of Lancaster; and Cindy M. wife of Lester Lipman of Mountville; a sister, Linda wife of William Jaco of Columbia; seven grandchildren: Michael Manley, Kristi Boyd, Angie Mable, Nicole Bonner, Dan Zeamer, Doug Stechman and Amanda Stechman; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by twin sons, David and Brian Manley; a brother, Robert Manley; and a sister, Laura Seats.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2008, from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6th and Locust Streets, Columbia, at 11:00 a.m. (family will receive friends 10-11 a.m.) with the Rev. Deborah L. Brumbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Please omit flowers.
