It’s Military Monday but I was lost as to who to write about
so I searched Stills and found nine Stills listed on a World War II POW site. Two
were held by Japan and the
rest by Germany .
Of the nine, one was a woman!
Eugene
(ser # 38589288) was a Private in the Army, Infantry. He served in the Courier
Service in the European Theatre Germany .
He was detained by Germany .

Albert Thomas Still
Sr
Albert (ser # 34831946) was a Private from Georgia, the son
of Thomas Acree and Ella A. Still. He served in the Army, Infantry in the
European Theatre France .
He was detained by Germany
in Stalag 2a Neubrandenburg Mecklenberg 53. Social Security records indicate he
was born 2 February 1918. According to U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, Albert
enlisted on 18 November 1943 in Fort Mcpherson Atlanta. He was married at the
time he enlisted and stated his civil occupation was unskilled oilers of
machinery. He died, according to Social Security records, on 27 September 1993
in Georgia .
He is buried with his wife Kathleen L. (1925 – 2000) in Bellevue
Memorial Gardens
in Columbia County , Georgia .
Dorothy Still
Dorothy (ser # 080123) was a Lieutenant Jr grade from California . The daughter
of William H. and Arissa Still, she served as a nurse at the Canacao Naval
Hospital in the Navy in
the Southwest Pacific Theatre Philippine Islands. She was detained by Japan and held at Los Banos Civ Laguna Luzon Philippines 1.
Edward F Still
Edward (ser # 34385420) was a Private First Class from South Carolina . Born 9
March 1922, he was single when he
enlisted. He served in the Army, Infantry in the European Theatre France . He was
detained by Germany . He died on 20 November 1988.
Eugene H Still
Homer E Still Jr
Homer (ser # 0 462673) was a Second Lieutenant or Nurse,
Dietician, Physical Therapist from Florida .
He served in the Army, Air Corps as a heavy bomber in the European Theatre Germany . He was
detained by Germany in
Stalag Luft 1 Barth Vogelsang Prussia
54.
Joe T Still
Joe (ser # 17012700) was a Staff Sergeant from Wisconsin . He served in
the Army, Air Corps in the bombardment heavy in the European Theatre Germany . He was
detained by Germany
in Stalag 17b Braunau Gneikendorf Near Krem.
John Howard Still
John (ser # 3419008) was a Radioman Second Class in the Navy
in the Southwest Pacific Theatre Philippine Islands. He was from Kansas , the son of Mrs.
Bereniece Powers Still of Los Angeles. He was detained by Japan in Osaka
Main Camp Chikko Osaka 34 135.
Omer G Still
Omer (ser # 6386865) was a Corporal in the Army, Infantry in
the European Theatre Germany .
He was detained by Germany .
Rupert H Still
Rupert (ser # 34575421) was a Private First Class in the
Army, Field Artillery. He served in the European Theatre Belgium . He was
detained by Germany
in Stalag 13 Hammelburg Om Main Bavaria 50.
None are “my” Stills … that I know of so far.
