A Bakers’ Union was formed in Lancaster in 1881, reported the Daily Intelligencer On This Day that year. The boss bakers met at Maennerchor hall and elected W. G. Rapp as President of the union. Geo. S. Brady was elected Vice President. Fred Goos was elected secretary and Geo. Shaeffer was elected Treasurer.
